Last Thursday 17 June I had the privilege of hosting Minister for Defence People and Veterans, Leo Docherty alongside Minister of State for Northern Ireland, Robin Walker. Their agenda was simple, to listen to the real life voices of veterans and supporting agencies about living in Northern Ireland as a veteran. This opportunity allowed a range of veterans across all conflicts including Iraq, Afghanistan and the Troubles to relay their experiences both good and bad.
It is important that veterans have a voice in Northern Ireland and a platform in which to express their views and concerns. Therefore such opportunities must be exploited where possible, and I will continue meeting with veterans around Northern Ireland to continue championing their needs, value and service.
